thing I like: Egg-Perfect egg timer

[1] Look, I know these have been around forever but our household just got a hold of one of these for the first time and we really like the Egg-Perfect egg timer [2]. In case you are also in the camp that has not yet encountered this I will fill you in: should you like some hard boiled but not too hard boiled eggs this little gadget sits pan with them and the outer edge changes color gradually as they cook. It has markings for "soft/medium/hard" so you can pull your eggs when they are just right. Awesomeness. [1] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004UE75/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=notma... May Birthday Giveaway: Super Natural Every Day

[1] This month Not Martha will be 10 years old. Ten years! To celebrate I'm holding a giveaway each weekday, they'll be filled with stuff I love made by people I know. Here we go. I'm super happy to have a copy of Heidi Swanson's book Super Natural Every Day [2] to offer as our first giveaway. Heidi's site, 101 Cookbooks [3] is one of those sites I've been reading for years and years and our cookbook club chose her first book, Super Natural Cooking [4], for our first meeting and everything was a delicious success. With Super Natural Every Day Heidi has given us simpler and quicker recipes that I cannot wait to make. The book is broken up into Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, Dinner, Drinks and Treats and has a collection of tips that I've found myself trusting Heidi to know. (Eggs from really awesome small farms actually are more difficult to peel! It's not my imagination!) Did I mention this book is vegetarian? It is. I hardly noticed though. I ate dinner just shortly before I am typing this and the photos are making me hungry again. You want this book. To enter please leave a comment with this entry, you have until Tuesday, May 3rd at 10 a.m. PST to enter, the fine print [5] applies. If you'd like please answer this question: Have you ever cooked with dandelion greens? I'll go first: I have not, but there is a recipe for Chickpeas & Dandelion Greens in this book that is very simple (seven ingredients!) and I'm gonna try it. Alright, good luck everybody! Closed! Thank you for entering! [1] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1580082777/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=notma... Welcoming Two New Voices to CRAFT

We've recently added two new contributors to CRAFT, and I thought you might like to meet them:

skimaskgif.gif

Andrew Salomone is no stranger to these parts. We've featured his Self-Portrait Ski Mask, Bill Cosby Portrait in Jello Shots, and Nerds portraiture here, among others. Andrew is an artist and teacher based in New York City, and he'll be sharing interesting projects from the intersection of craft, art, and technology. You can also keep up with his personal work at his website.

Haley_Pierson-Cox_Author_Photo.jpg

Haley Pierson-Cox is a craft writer who is, co-incidentally enough, also based in NYC. She'll be sharing crafts across the spectrum here, and she recently had her first CRAFT how-to: Vegan Serving Dish and Utensil Tags. (And there's another fun project from her coming up next week!) Haley also blogs about crafts, cats, domestic bliss, and DIY goodness at The Zen of Making.

Welcome, Haley and Andrew! We're looking forward to lots more crafty goodness from you!

How-To: Digital Scrapbook Hair Ornament

By Jennifer Perkins

Recently, I have started dabbling in digital scrapbooking. I need another crafty hobby like a hole in the head, but have you seen all the cute options out there?  I blame my latest obsession on one woman, Danielle Thompson, and her Kitschy Digitals. Her line of digital scrapbooking goodies includes prize ribbons, washi tape, garden gnomes, and more. Her designs are so cute I didn't want to just play with them on the computer, I wanted to make them into actual physical items I could craft with, and more importantly, wear. With the help of some printer fabric, that is exactly what I did.
