grapefruit tarragon infused vodka, batch #2

I'm making another batch of grapefruit tarragon infused vodka [1] (the tarragon gets added on day four, so it's not shown here). The first batch [2] was delicious and we used more than half of it before I got photographs that show how it turned out. Oops. I'll try for more restraint this time. photo: a sign painter

I was walking through the Georgetown neighborhood and spotted this nice guy painting a sign by hand. I stopped to ask if I could take a photo and mentioned I knew somebody who is making a film about people who paint signs by hand. "Faythe [1]?" He asked. Indeed. The world, it is small. May Birthday Giveaway: Gluten-free Girl and the Chef

What?s going on here? My site started ten years ago this month and to celebrate I?m giving away something each weekday. Because I like you. Today I've got a copy of Gluten-free Girl and the Chef [1] to give away, it was written by Shauna and Danny Ahern who do the site titled, you've perhaps guessed, Gluten-free Girl and the Chef [2]. I talked about Shauna's first book a few years back when I spent the day being gluten-free [3] and discovered gluten is everywhere, including my toothpaste and my hair product. At the time I met Shauna I knew one person who had celiac, and since then I've met many more. It seems like every one of those I've met has gone through a struggle with what they cannot eat anymore and this is where Shauna comes in, she is a generous, happy, glowing soul who focuses instead on all the goodness one can uncover while eating gluten-free and she shares that. This book was written after she married Danny, the chef in the title (and one awesome guy, if I may say so), and the book covers a love story (romantic sigh) and lots of recipes and beautiful inspiring photos. Do you live gluten-free or know somebody who does? Then this book is one you'll want. To enter please leave a comment with this entry and, if you'd like something to talk about (I love reading all the stories!), here is a question to answer: Do you know somebody with celiac? I'll go first: When I was living in San Francisco I learned about the disease from a co-worker who had been diagnosed earlier that year, it was completely new to me. Now it seems that a startling number of people I know have celiac. Alright, you've got until Thursday, May 26th at 10 a.m. PST to enter, the fine print [4] applies and as always good luck! Closed, thank you for entering! [1] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470419717/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=notma... We found the pit!

Last weekend Scott [1] and I rode our bicycles, Wheatley and GLaDOS respectively, along a few trails. We do not recommend the "Green to Cedar River Trail" as it is loose gravel and very difficult to bike on and especially because it's all uphill on the way back. Whew. But we did pass this sign. Wait, I'll get it in more detail for you: Pit park! We found an actual pit being turned into a park [2]! It made the whole ride worth it.
